Welcome CODA, the silver baby!!!

Coda, the beautiful silver Border Collie from Desertshore Border Collies arrived this week!  He's exactly 9 weeks old today, and is settling right in to our family and home.  Big brother Brighton can not be more thrilled.  He is extremely protective of little Coda, and as gentle as can be.  We haven't seen Brighton play and be this active in months!  When Coda is in his crate, Brighton lays right next to the crate.  When Coda is out in the playroom, he chooses to climb right into Brighton's bed.  Coda has brought so much happiness to us already, and we are so fortunate to have him!

Without more ado, here are the happy brothers:

Coda had a 4 hour flight from Arizona to Cleveland.  Poor guy!  We waited at the airport cargo area for about 30 minutes, and then finally got our FIRST GLIMPSE of the little pup!

Welcome to Ohio!

It's your new mommy!

...and new Daddy!

He had a very easy transition and settled into the car for the 2 hour drive home.

Two boys.  One bully stick.

In the car!

I bet little Coda's not used to the sub 40 degree Ohio weather!

After you're potty trained, you can be on the bed a lot more, Coda. : )

Hi!!

Doesn't get much cuter than this.

Brighton doesn't like it when Coda is in his crate.

An Update

It's been awhile since we've posted, but we've been dealing with Brighton's health issues these few weeks.  His general lameness and weakness in his hind legs have persisted, and we've been to 3 different vets now.  After more xrays, bloodwork, and a host of other medical tests, we still have no diagnosis.  All we know is that he has a very low Magnesium level.

We're taking it day-by-day.  Some days are better than others, when he stands up and enjoys spending some time outside.  On his "bad" days, he just lays in bed all day and barely moves.  Seeing him like that, as a 6-month old puppy, breaks our hearts.  We've had to stop attending his Puppy 2 class too, because he's falling further and further behind and is unable to interact with most of the puppy agility equipment.  Fortunately, he has already mastered basic obedience.

Starting yesterday, we're trying something new with his diet, incorporating in some Mg supplements, and we're hopeful that this may lead to an improvement over the next few weeks.  We're also looking forward to some potential new changes that may be happening over the new few weeks as well.  Stay tuned!
